About the role

Working with the Innovation Flavorists and Flavor Technologists, you will be responsible for conducting validation and optimization of Taste Technologies that are focused but not limited to Savoury categories via testing in various model and finished applications. You will also work closely with the various application teams understanding their application recipes and ingredients for the assessment of Taste technologies. All development work will deliver in terms of Taste and performance in alignment with the Global Taste Innovation Platform priorities and expectations.

What will you do?
  • Assist Innovation Flavorists and Flavor Technologists creating value added Taste products with a point of difference by utilizing innovative technologies and differentiating Taste raw materials.
  • Assist Flavor Technologist creating model system applications by simplifying commercial finished application recipes whilst keeping the functionality and performance of the recipes.
  • Based on the technology assessments in model system applications, further assess new flavor ingredients and technologies in finished applications.
  • Ensures that ingredient and technology functionalities and their unique ratios in the finished applications meet market technology needs and business goals.
  • Maintain awareness of new findings with the core Global Taste Innovation community being able to communicate and explain the results to technical audience via application demo presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including Global Taste Innovation, Regional Flavorist and EUMs, and Sensory.
  • Organize and prepare application samples for the tasting sessions for both lab evaluations and sensory panels.
  • Organize and maintain ingredients and raw materials used in application recipes.
  • Maintains lab consumables and equipment in safe and hygienic storage.
  • Preparation and shipment of R&D sample requests keeping internal/external customer informed of delivery times and updates.

Key Deliverables
  • Ensure the optimal dosages and ratio of Taste Technologies in specific applications meet the cost-in-use criteria and functionalities set by the project scope.
  • Design and conduct sensory panels for validating technologies in different finished applications. Interpret data and present findings to technical teams.
  • Run in-application stability trials on new technology-driven Taste solutions by understanding the requirements of end-use product shelf life.
  • Keep and maintain records of application trials providing relevant technical information to Flavor Technologists and Innovation Flavorists.
  • Develop and prepare finished application technology demo kits and presentation slides; be able to explain and present to wider teams during the technology workshops and trainings.
  • Provide updates to line manager about the progress and current results of the research program to ensure the involved persons are up to date with projects.
  • Report project progress in a timely fashion, by attending meetings and supporting the line manager.
  • Adheres to good laboratory practices and lab protocols. Records documentation and methodology into appropriate database.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and effectiveness in meeting project deadlines given by the flavorists as well as supporting flavorists delivering the Taste solutions to the EUM customers.
  • Adhere to department rules on hygiene and general housekeeping. Ensuring the work area is hygienic and fit for the development of food products.
  • Undertake any training as agreed and directed by the Company.

What will you need to be successful?
  • Food Science or Culinary Degree / Bachelor or Masters.
  • 2-5 years' work experience in a New Product Development environment.
  • Demonstrates creativity, practical skills & enjoyment of food.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and ICT skills, with ability to present technical findings.
  • Ability to manage and develop projects.
  • Time keeping and workload management.
  • Self-Starter and ability to work on own initiative.
