The purpose of this position is to provide project management, consulting, reporting, and accounting services for approved strategic initiatives and process improvements in Corporate Accounting.  The impact this position has on Publix is achieving the projected return on investments (ROI) for strategic initiatives and enabling process efficiencies to appropriately scale accounting operations to minimize costs as Publix grows.

Responsibilities include:


  • managing projects to implement strategic and innovative initiatives and process improvements in Corporate Accounting and related business areas

  • providing consultation regarding implemented business processes to both internal and external customers

  • providing reporting for the support of implemented strategic initiatives and business projects 



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a field applicable to this position or equivalent experience

  • 2 years’ experience in Corporate Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience

  • knowledge of accounting principles, general business practices and financial statements

  • knowledge of Business Analysis

  • knowledge of Internal Controls and SOX regulations

  • ability and willingness to demonstrate eagerness, enthusiasm, optimism, and passion when working

  • ability to set priorities, plan and coordinate work activities

  • ability to inspect, cleanse, transform and model data from various sources with the goal of discovering useful information/trends, informing conclusion and supporting decision-making

  • ability to interpret, analyze, and explain financial information

  • problem solving skills

  • strategic thinking including the ability to see and understand the bigger picture of what the organization is, where it needs to go, and how it will get there

  • negotiation skills

  • written and verbal communication skills

  • intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • ability to work nights, weekends, and extended hours as business needs require


  • Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting/ Finance

  • 2 years in financial analysis, planning, process improvements and accounting principles

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • knowledge of project management techniques and continuous quality improvement methodology

  • knowledge of Publix Operations

  • advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • experience with SAP/BI, Store Accounting System (SACT), store weekly P&Ls, PIMS, DIMS, and WIMS
