Job Description:

Join our amazing printing team in Durham! The Parts Lead will assist supervisor in overseeing functions of the Parts Department through employee training, inventory management, and project coordination. Manage all aspects of Inventory Repairable Spares process (internal and external), including press rollers. Prepare and execute shipment of items being sent out for repair. Manage local waste and sustainability programs (recycling; solid, chemical & universal waste streams; and components of HazCom program). Work with suppliers to coordinate all Vendor Managed Inventory activities.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Leadership & Team Responsibilities - Provide training for new associates, and for new processes. Ensure associates are compliant with department & location policies & procedures. Monitor department related KPI measurements in EAM, taking appropriate action as needed. Assign team members to special projects as needed, providing project direction and project updates. Written and verbal communication (electronic logbook, emails, receipt notifications, supplier contact, etc.). Assist associates from all departments with needs determination & location of nonstock parts & supplies. Fill in for / assist Parts Coordinator with inventory & service activities. Assist department supervisor with nonstock purchases as necessary. Act as supervisor's backup for matters related to EAM / Oracle integration. Assist department supervisor with employee training and managing departmental project assignments. 45%

  • Safety and Environmental Responsibilities - Responsible to comply with / provide training for Facility and/or OSHA safety standards. Lead and report on department recycling activities. Responsible as point person for security camera systems. Report outages, provide training, work with maintenance and security suppliers, as necessary. Work with other departments and with suppliers to manage regular and periodic pick-ups of regulated, hazardous, universal and electronic waste materials. Complete purchase orders and EPA required paperwork for each service. Maintain DOT CFR49 certification. Maintain facility SDS files, to include entering new or updated information into the HSI database and perform periodic audits of document files. Back up for supervisor to issue monthly chemical usage report (used for Air Permit reporting). Weekly and monthly 5S and Environmental audits / inspections. 30%

  • Physical Parts / Supplies Inventory Management - Assist and / or fill in for Parts Coordinators as needed. Weekly roller inventory reports. Prepare & execute shipments of outbound items to be repaired. Do local / community pick-ups for immediate need parts & supplies. Assist supervisor in managing PM. Pick Ticket and Parts Kits processes. Lead periodic inventory audit projects. Assist supervisor with inventory optimization projects (stock levels / suppliers / physical locations). Other duties as assigned. 25%

EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in an industrial environment preferred.

  • Prior experience in an inventory environment desired.


CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES

  • Required CertIfications/Licensures: (Valid Driver's License)

  • Must become DOT CFR49 certified and recertify every 3 years

  • Must become forklift certified or retain licensure if already qualified.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate with other employees and suppliers to explain inventory, ordering, or receipt issues.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to retain knowledge of procedures and processes and understand complex instructions and multi-step procedures.

  • Basic math skills. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide to make ordering and inventory packaging decisions.

  • Intermediate written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to explain processes and procedures to perform 1:1 training for new employees.

  • Knowledge of computerized inventory systems a plus.

  • Service-oriented personality.

  • Willingness to attend / participate in training classes to learn or enhance skills.


EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE UTILIZED

 Basic computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must have knowledge of Internet software and be able to apply that knowledge to Inventory and Order Processing systems.

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS

Work closely with maintenance department to inform technicians of pertinent information.

Communicates with plant personnel to inform others of inventory level issues, expected deliveries, and to notify others of incoming visitors. Communicates with equipment vendors and various suppliers regarding quotes, orders, and shipments.

DECISION MAKING

Makes ordering decisions to place nonstock orders in support of plant.

Makes decisions concerning inventory storage and replenishment levels.

Makes decisions concerning repair / replace and selecting repair suppliers.

Assist department supervisor with employee training and managing departmental project assignments.

OTHER

Security role responsibility in screening incoming visitors and delivery vehicles.

Functions as member of emergency response team providing equipment and utility monitoring and assistance to emergency personnel as required.

Hourly Pay Rate: $19.40 - $21.20. Depending on experience.

The ultimate compensation offered for the position will depend upon several factors such as skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities.
