Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Austin, TX.
Purpose:
The Senior Database Administrator will design, administer, maintain, secure, and improve performance of complex databases.
Responsibilities:
Design, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced operational and performance related database issues, coordinate changes, and maintain database structures, and assist in developing policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment
Design, coordinate, implement, and determine procedures necessary to save and recover production databases, and to recover databases from hardware and software failure
Perform database performance monitoring and auditing, implement efficiency improvements, and modify existing databases and database management systems
Design, configure and implement database network connectivity working with required technical teams
Monitor capacity versus utilization and recommends appropriate action on a timely basis to avoid performance degradation
Create databases and database objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and stored procedures
Track database assets and critical information about those assets
Assist in development of data security standards to ensure data integrity data security
Maintain data standards, prepare and develop database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries
Create test database environment for applications section, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures
Install new software releases and/or upgrades including researching, testing, and implementing new technology
May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Industry and department best practices, requirements and policies and procedures
Advanced principles, practices and techniques of secure computer programming, system design, computer operations, systems and procedures
Advanced database structures and theories
Current database technologies
Oracle and SQL Server database tools, environments and query languages (SQL, TSQL)
Statistical analysis processes
Developing reports and cross references from the data dictionary
Performing data modeling and prototyping to implement efficiency improvements
Database debugging, testing and troubleshooting techniques
Write Extraction, Transform and Load (ETL) or SSIS tasks for the Extraction, Transformation or Loading (ETL) process
Gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts
Perform a root cause analysis
Assess future information needs so that the databases can evolve in an appropriate manner
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of experience in a related field
Experience may substitute for education for up to four (4) years

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
