Starting Rate: Band 4 - $47,100 - $53,010

Position Summary:



The Construction instructor will provide vocational education to adult learners via lecture/lab. Classes are open-entry, open-exit and are taught on a 12-month schedule. The instructor will interact with corrections staff and other PCC instructors and staff on a daily basis. The Construction instructor will also enroll students in PCC classes, using forms that are unique to the prison instruction. Classes are taught within the prison complex.



This position is located at the AZ State Prison Complex - Tucson, located on 10000 S. Wilmot Rd, Tucson, AZ.




Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Review and implement necessary course modifications to comply with PCC and ADCRR guidelines.

  • Review and develop modifications in the construction technology course curriculum

  • Provide assistance and instruction to students on academic matters, technical and vocational programs, and special equipment

  • Assess student skills and develop appropriate vocational study plans




    • Apply and observe appropriate security rules Estimating

    • Carpentry

    • Plumbing electrical

    • Drywall

    • Masonry

    • Framing

    • Finish carpentry




  • Construction technology curriculum and policies

  • Complete a regular inventory of tools and

  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level as required



  • Interface with Arizona State Prison Complex - Tucson educational personnel on behalf of Pima Community College. This includes resolving problem arising from conflicting reporting systems, and trouble-shooting student access issues

  • Ability to function effectively in a stressful prison environment with minimal security protection.

  • Successful completion of extensive AZ Dept of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) background check. Successful completion of week-long contractor training requirement (Training includes CPR, self-defense class and use of OC spray).

  • Completion of annual training from ASPC in prison contractor requirements.

  • Knowledge of Pima Community College system and ASPC systems to appropriately complete required reports and fulfill requests from stakeholders when appropriate.

  • Proven ability to respond effectively and appropriately to requests from ASPC officials.




Job Requirements:



  • Associate's Degree in a related field and

  • Three years of program support experience related to the area of assignment and


or



  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above


Additional Information:



  • Completion of ADCRR background check

  • Completion of ADCRR one-week orientation

  • Completion of ADCRR annual training
