We are looking for a Tax Supervisor and our ideal candidate is expected to have a broad base knowledge with all types of returns, and being able to complete multiple returns from start to finish - individual returns, partnership returns, corporate returns and trusts. Also, having some international tax experience is a plus.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE & TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT
  • CPA License Required***
  • 4+ years experience at a public accounting firm - required*
  • Demonstrates an understanding of fundamental principles of tax law.
  • Exhibits an understanding of the levels of authorities, legal precedents, rulings, and regulations.
  • Effectively applies tax knowledge to individual returns and less complex business returns.
  • Exhibits a desire to understand business transactions and related issues.
  • Provides research support to a transaction review process.
  • Demonstrates an ability to prepare individual and business tax returns on a timely and efficient basis.
  • Prepares a completed and organized tax file including appropriate supporting documentation for the tax return.
  • Exhibits an understanding of computer system used in tax preparation process.
  • Exhibits an understanding of client's business objectives and performs tax research with a view for alternatives to satisfy those objectives.
  • Works effectively with associates and superiors in analyzing business transactions.
  • Performs complete and efficient reviews of individual and business tax returns while providing guidance and supervision to other staff.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively gather data from client, audit department, and third party sources.
  • Demonstrates the ability to utilize computerized research program.
  • Progress towards/complete the CPA certification process. (all parts passed required for promotion to Supervisor)

  • Develops an understanding of the client's business, including significant tax issues.

  • Demonstrates the ability to establish informal counseling relationships with staff through mentoring and informal coaching.
  • Is accessible to staff as a sounding board for concerns and questions.
  • Serves as a role model to staff and peers.
  • Willingly participates in the recruitment of new staff by referring and/or interviewing candidates when appropriate.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT & FIRM PROFITABILITY
  • Anticipates problems and issues, and keeps the in-charge/manager informed of engagement status.
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage concurrent assignments to successful completion.
  • Proactive in the bottom-line management of assigned engagements.
  • Assesses and maintains individual productivity (realization, chargeability, etc.)
  • Demonstrates an awareness of new business opportunities, such as cross-selling other services to clients.
  • Complies with Firm practice management procedures and systems.
  • Begins to develop the attributes of an effective and competent "Ambassador of the Firm".
