Description

The Department of Communication at Clemson University seeks applications for a Post Doctoral Fellow. The initial appointment is for two years. We are interested in candidates with an interest in instructional communication. The Fellow will conduct research to inform graduate and undergraduate degrees and certificate programs. Candidates must have a Ph.D. (in hand by August 2024) in Communication or a closely related field and a record of conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications that suggests future success in scholarly research. A strong empirical research background, qualitative and/or quantitative, is also necessary. This researcher will work as a member of the Department of Communication faculty under the direction of Dr. Deanna Sellnow in a variety of areas, which include: (a) conducting research to inform planning and development of a PhD program proposal, (b) helping to implement outreach and recruitment efforts, (c) assisting the Graduate Coordinator in strengthening MA program learning outcomes, (d) assisting the Director of the Basic Courses in training and evaluation of graduate teaching assistants, and (e) participating in collaborative research initiatives related to health communication, strategic communication, media/technology, and/or sport communication.

The goal of the position is to strengthen the already strong graduate and undergraduate curriculum in the Department of Communication at Clemson University. The selected candidate will also be expected to build their own research program as they mature in the position. Housed in the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences, the Department of Communication offers three academic degree programs: a BA in Communication, a BA in Sports Communication, and an MA in Communication. The department offers minors in Communication and Sports Communication and serves the university through two introductory general education communication courses that serve over 3,000 students each year. In addition to an affiliation with the university’s Robert H. Brooks Sports Science Institute, the department houses the Campbell Professorship in Sports Communication. Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with experience and interest in instructional communication in addition to a research program related to health, strategic, media/technology, and/or sport communication. Eligible candidates must have a Ph.D. (in hand by August 2024) in Communication or a closely related field and a record of conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications that suggests future success in scholarly research. A strong empirical research background, qualitative and/or quantitative, is also necessary.
