JOB DESCRIPTION



Position Summary:


The Electrician is responsible for installing and repairing all electrical devices of the plant. It also works effectively as a team contributor on all required tasks, works independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and departments.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Troubleshoots 480VAC 3 phase motor control circuits.
  • Troubleshoots industrial control circuits
  • Modifies circuits in industrial machines and systems.
  • Changes all size motors from fractional to 300 H.P.
  • Troubleshoots PLC systems.
  • Installs control systems for rebuilds or new systems.
  • Installs and testing Ethernet networks.
  • Troubleshoots and installing VFD motor controls.
  • Electrician disassembles defective electrical equipment, replaces defective or worn parts, and reassembles equipment.
  • Responsible for replacing all fuses, light sockets, bulbs and switches.
  • Performs other duties assigned from management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures and observes the operations to insure a safe environment.


Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 4+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training an experience.
  • Manufacturing electrical background preferred.
  • Full and complete understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Prefer Electrician's License, but not mandatory.


Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Machine set- up, troubleshoots equipment failures, and perform repair and prevent maintenance services ensuring that all safety procedures are being followed.
  • Must have strong PLC troubleshooting capability and ability to read and program code.
  • Must have good working knowledge of all aspects of electrical controls, mechanical assembly, plumbing, and heating, ventilating and air conditioning related control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical control and mechanical assembly drawings, as well as service manuals for all equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair both Electrical and Mechanical problems associated with Production and Facility equipment in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work to repair equipment back to service during emergency breakdowns.


Competencies:


  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.


Physical Demands:



Be able to work 8 to 12 hour shifts.


Ability to work overtime when needed.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. They employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.



Work Environment:



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • Experience working as an electrician in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Completion of electrician apprenticeship preferred
  • Electrician degree from a technical college preferred
  • Demonstrated electrical system, power generation, blueprints and maintenance and repair knowledge required
  • Thorough understanding of operating principles of all assigned equipment
  • Ability to use electronic test equipment
