Job Description:

Summary

The Manufacturing and Process Engineer at Teledyne Microwave Solutions plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and refining products and processes for the manufacturing of vacuum electronic microwave TWT products. Design changes will be data driven and based on sound engineering principles. Mechanical design is caried out using 3D modeling tools, ASME Y14.5 dimensioning in an ISO 9001 environment. Analysis will be done using a variety of analytical tools, depending on the analysis requirements. Processes in the scope of this position include chemical cleaning, etching, plating, braze and firing operations in Hydrogen, vacuum and air environments. Assembly is performed in class 10,000 - 100,000 clean room. Mechatronics skills to automate, enhance or repair a variety of custom manufacturing tools that integrate a variety of equipment used in a manufacturing environment. Understanding of machining process including punch press, lathe, mill, CNC, laser cutting, etc. The working environment includes the presence of high voltage, microwave signals, thermal, vibration and other requirements that are common with military platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

Ownership of assigned commodities in support of manufacturing. Ownership of assigned processes required for successful manufacturing. Responsible for Determine design approaches and parameters based on project requirements and specifications. Support manufacturing with all technical challenges. Responsible for analyzing data, performing failure analysis, determining root cause of failures, implementing corrective action through formal Engineering Change Orders. Identify areas where improvement can be made and take the initiative to solve the problem. Act with a sense of urgency.

  • Proficiency in analysis methods including experimental testing and evaluation.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and reliability requirements and the skill to back system requirements down to assembly and piece part design.
  • Excellent documentation skills for defining requirements for assemblies, piece parts and process requirements.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to materials utilization, assembly methods and testing.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials or Chemical Engineering, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 0-2 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active government security clearance or eligibility to attain/maintain government security clearance.
