Responsibilities: Work in either the financials, autos, business services & packaging or technology, media, telecommunications (TMT) sectors on coverage of public and private leveraged finance markets
Will work with 1-2 other analysts on coverage of the sectors
Conduct due diligence on current investments and potential investment opportunities (new issue and secondary within high yield, bank loans and direct lending) that are appropriate for the MidOcean credit platform and present those opportunities to the Investment Committee
Maintain a deep understanding of the investment mandates of each of the firms accounts and how potential new investments could fit for those accounts within the coverage sector
Conduct regular meetings and calls with management teams of current and potential investments
Develop thorough investment memos/screeners for presentation to the Investment Committee
Evaluate ongoing relative value of current investments and potential opportunities, constantly highlighting views to the team
Create and maintain financial models on current and potential investments
Evaluate and maintain a deep understanding of the covenants of any position and potential implications for the company
Maintain a strong network of buyside / sell-side analysts, capital markets professionals, counsels, and restructuring advisors
Maintain an ownership mentality of positions and P&L
Attend industry conferences as appropriate to meet with management teams and strengthen your network
Proactive coordination of credit views between analysts, portfolio managers and traders
Qualifications: 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, leveraged finance or corporate credit research (buy side) with a minimum of 1 year of research experience
Strong financial modeling, writing, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
Strong work ethic and ability to be a self-starter
Strong organizational and process management skills
Positive attitude and desire to work collaboratively with a small team
Understanding of credit and leveraged finance markets
