Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.




Job Role Summary




This Lead LPN position in the OBGYN clinic will perform both patient care and administrative / operational oversite in conjunction with the OBGYN Charge Nurse. This very busy clinic has several sub-specialties for whom we provide patient care. Duties will include working with providers and their patients in sub-specialties, coordinating with the Clinic Charge Nurse in both administrative duties and operational oversight.


Responsible to coordinate and oversee activities of the department and clinical team members to ensure compassionate, effective, safe, and efficient delivery of high-quality clinical care for patients.




Essential Functions and Responsibilities




• Assist clinical and non-clinical team members with maintaining patient flow to ensure patients are seen timely and efficiently and provide up to date & accurate information regarding changes in service to all team members
• Knowledgeable of each specialty's weekly schedule, multi-daily review of patient arrival dashboard-patient throughput decisions made from the information
• Ensures high quality care for patients by monitoring performance of clinical & non-clinical team members to ensure duties are completed safely, efficiently, and timely
• Identify & recommend solutions to clinical & non-clinical team members with issues or problems and intervenes as a liaison between patient, providers, and staff members
• Provides manager with input, supporting development, and coaching for the staff member's annual evaluation, re-training, and orientation
• Knowledgeable of multiple workques and determine area of focus to keep workques within acceptable volume
• Rounds on patients, providers, and staff members to assess quality, safety, and environmental readiness for patient care as well as service recovery
• An active participant in process improvement & quality improvement processes and projects for the department & participate in training of new hires
• Assists with annual and bi-annual competency check off
• Point of contact in manager's absence for any Risk, Regulatory, Office of patient experience, and Infection Prevention departments
• Assists with preparation of &/or participates in service line, staff service line, leadership meetings
• Attend training sessions and meetings pertinent to position
• Assists with effective and efficient use of electronic communication with patients and providers to ensure timely and thorough transfer of information i.e. MyChart utilization, Waitlist Utilization, Reducing of paper usage/mail
• Back up to manager for provider template revisions, following company protocol when there is a request to decrease schedule




Job Requirements




• Current Indiana LPN required
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• CPR certification required (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider)
• Leadership experience preferred, but not required




Knowledge, Skills & Abilities




• Comfortability with electronic medical records and communication with high level skills in typing (50+ wpm with accuracy); use of calculator and other standard office equipment
• Strong critical, analytical, & organizational skills
• Effective interpersonal communications
• Knowledge of Hospital and departmental procedures, policies, and protocols
• Ability to: prioritize work and devise own work patterns/methods; be flexible to changing priorities; exercise good judgment; work effectively under time/work volume pressures, work with minimum supervision, and be detail-oriented
• Understanding of regulatory readiness for the specialties in the department
