Job Description:

The role of the digital manager is to create and manage digital content across Starnes Media's 6 hyperlocal community publications. This editor will be considered the company's subject-matter expert on digital content distribution within the community footprint of their newspaper, website, newsletters and social channels, from business openings and local events to hot-button issues and municipal meetings. The digital manager ensures that the company's content meets the company's quality standards and that deadlines and key performance metrics are met. They will bring new ideas that align with and help the company achieve its bigger vision. They will be a team player, cooperating with community editors, freelance and full-time reporters, photographers, videographers and designers to ensure that the company's entire range of publications are meeting these standards and working cohesively.

Responsibilities

-Create a daily plan for online and social content across all 6 community publication

- Create and manage creation of digital-first written, video and visual content.

- Collaborate with community editors to ensure impactful and robust digital offerings to accompany print stories

- Establish workflows to create engaging stand-alone content for web and social.

- Participate in the creation and honing of processes and checklists.

- Ensure digital content is prominently and properly utilized to drive engagement in newsletters and across social channels.

- Monitor digital and social metrics, with a plan for growth around identified KPIs.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in digital media or equivalent experience and 2 years of experience in the field. The candidate must be proactive, organized and comfortable using technology and working with remote coworkers. Experience shooting and editing video, graphic design, managing social platforms, analytics and newsletters is preferred.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Content meets company quality standards which are clarified with checklists for each type of content.
  • Deadlines are met for all distribution channels (print, website, email and social media) throughout all stages of the planning and production process.
  • Attendance and participation at scheduled company meetings.
