Job Description:

The Senior Lab Pack Chemist at Clean Earth is responsible for ensuring the proper off-site treatment and disposal of hazardous waste materials. This role involves handling hazardous materials, performing onsite services, preparing shipments, completing documentation, maintaining safety standards, and mentoring new employees.


Responsibilities:

  • Handle hazardous materials, including inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste material.
  • Perform onsite services such as waste collection, consolidation, sampling, and safety/compliance inspections.
  • Assist other business groups internally and onsite as needed.
  • Prepare shipment of packaged waste, including inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading into transport vehicles.
  • Complete documentation including shipping papers, evaluations, and certifications in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement for transporting personnel and waste.
  • Follow Health & Safety procedures, including developing on-site Health & Safety plans.
  • Perform unknown field testing for classification and packaging for transportation and disposal.
  • Mentor and assist new employees in field work duties.
  • Complete site walks to inventory and assess requirements for potential and awarded work.
  • Assist sales in creating estimates for lab pack work.
  • Lead/coordinate field service/lab pack jobs requiring multiple personnel/days.
  • Assist in other areas as directed, including scheduling and staff training support.


Qualifications:

  • Associate College degree in General Science or equivalent experience
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazardous Material endorsement and clear record
  • Moderate to extensive travel with 40% overnight travel
  • Physical ability to lift and move material exceeding 55 lbs
  • Basic understanding of chemistry and advanced knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations
  • Minimum two years lab pack experience
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER, 8 hours DOT Training, PPE Training including Respirators, 40 hours Depack Experience
