In this exciting role as IC Layout Technician V, you will participate in the physical layout phase of Integrated Circuit (IC) design development by offering technical layout expertise. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the patients we serve and an unrelenting desire to improve our business. The candidate will be well versed in IC layout software tools, be motivated, and have exceptional soft skills that will be used to work with a team.

This position can work remotely within the United States.

A Day in the Life
As an IC Layout Technician V, your primary responsibilities will include converting schematics to layout for custom analog, digital or mixed circuit blocks with attention to device matching, optimizing parasitics, and meeting route impedance requirements. You will run all necessary physical verification (DRC, ANT, LVS, and SFT) and schedule the assigned work at the chip level (setting deadlines, meeting deadlines, identify potential slips, and provide layout resource alternatives). You will use your thorough knowledge of IC processes and gate level layout within cell library methodologies to effectively communicate status, issues, and ideas with IC design engineer and supporting layout designers on the team for all phases. You will execute both pre and post IC fracture procedures, leading an IC chip layout team from start to fracture with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:


  • Develop and prepare multi-dimensional layouts and detailed drawings of semiconductor devices from schematics and related geometry provided by design engineering
  • Work will be completed through use of CAD or other computerized equipment
  • Check dimensions, writing specifications, and verifying completed drawings, artwork, or digitized plots
  • May check design layouts and detailed drawings
  • Participation in the analysis of issues and the development of recommendations for project decisions and actions, demonstrating good judgment in when to escalate issues or consult with others
  • Generate netlist
  • Chip level floor planning
  • Expected to deliver quality work within project schedules and timelines

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have: Preferred Requirements

  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso XL and Calibre or PVS tool suites.
  • Experience with floor planning, block level routing and top-level chip assembly.
  • Knowledge of high-performance analog layout techniques such as common centroid layout, shielding, use of dummy devices.
  • Knowledge of low power design and applicable best practice techniques.
  • Must be able to set up LVS, DRC, ERC environments and debug verification issues.
  • Experience with sub-micron design in foundry 55 nm preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to define and adhere to a schedule.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in the design of medical devices
  • Knowledge of skill code and layout automation
  • Knowledge of advanced packaging technologies
  • Experience in IOESD/ Memory/ Digital library design
  • Experience working with distributed design teams

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations).The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience,certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
