Responsibilities


Position Summary The Tooling Manager is responsible for procurement submission, inventory, calibration tracking, maintenance, and prepositioning of aircraft tooling and equipment as required. Responsible for all aspects of in-house tool maintenance, development, and testing activities to ensure the business objectives of all aircraft maintenance checks are met. Responsible for interfacing with Stores and Quality Control to ensure all tooling is maintained and calibrated according to due dates. Ensure tools are serviceable and repaired efficiently, on time, and in line with the quality standards of associated Vendor Manuals. Coordinate tooling requirements with Planning and Production for all future Aircraft maintenance contracts. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern operational principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes through training and promoting change management. Job Responsibilities
  • Partner with Maintenance Production and Material for tool standardization across all PSA Airlines maintenance bases.
  • Establish and maintain the standardized tooling list for PSA Airlines maintenance bases to include the Essential Maintenance Provider locations.
  • Research New and Advanced tooling opportunities for improved maintenance on the PSA Airlines fleet.
  • Work with Finance to accurately identify tooling and equipment assets.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to procure tooling needed by Production for new projects and nonroutine work or work added after aircraft induction.
  • Approve and document the discarding of obsolete or unserviceable (beyond economical repair) tooling per company policy.
  • Ensure that all Tooling locations under the Tooling and Stores Department maintain an accurate inventory of tooling and equipment.
  • Verify and Maintain processes to correctly identify all tools, prevent loss of tooling and tool control.
  • Utilizing all available resources, research and coordinate with Material and Technical Services to obtain problematic tooling. (OEM, Customers, Sister Companies, Open Market, Lease, Owner / Operator Produced Parts (OOPP) etc.).
  • Coordinate with Quality Control Department to ensure that Tool calibration or Load testing requirements do not disrupt work.
  • Establish yourself as a Leader and become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop training aids and conduct training sessions in addition to assisting Training in developing basic, intermediate, and advanced training courses for aircraft tooling.
  • Assist with integrating Maintenix with potential new software solutions that PSA implements including but not limited to tool kitting, tool tracking, etc.
  • Research and action Calibrated tooling calibration reports with a negative calibration result to include Aircraft Maintenance Manual research for tolerances and subsequent aircraft requirements if needed.
  • Manage the Maintenix task interface for tooling requirements.
  • Process CASS Notice of Noncompliance (NNC) and CASS Corrective Action Report (CCR) for all tooling related noncompliance events.
  • Learn, adopt and apply Lean methodologies to tooling storage, point of use, and other Lean processes.
  • Represent PSA Airlines at applicable industry and governmental forums, meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Create and provide various technical reports and data packages as requested.
  • Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Specifics


Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma
  • Current Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience within a 49CFR Part 121 Airline Maintenance experience
  • Advanced ability in the use of Technical Data and Manuals.
  • Strong communication and verbal skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English
  • If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US

  • Strong analytical, organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate and build effective business relationships
  • Lean certification or experience
Additional InformationSupervisory Responsibility: This is not a supervisory position.
