Job Description:

This position is responsible for assisting with patient care, co-training school support staff, and parents/guardians during a 10-day intensive behavioral program. This position is responsible for helping to maintain a waiting list and determining patient eligibility for services. Additional responsibilities include implementation of assessments and treatment as appropriate for the referral question. This position requires the collection of data and understanding thorough of patient information/case review to determine and conduct support treatment sessions.

  • Contacts patient care providers prior to appointment to gather information and support the identification of goals created by the Senior Behavioral Health Consultant during the 2-week evaluation; and assist with answering questions and responding to any concerns care provider may indicate prior to visit.
  • Review patient file to ensure required paperwork has been completed and/or updated prior to the visit.
  • May assist in providing orientation and training to staff members and volunteers.
  • May assist with orientation of practicum students
  • May assist team members to create training videos to be provided to families and outside sources as requested to summarize assessment and treatment procedures.
  • Provides consultation and answers questions/concerns from care providers and school teams.
  • Independently reviews patient chart to provide input on and propose patient assessment and treatment recommendations to the Psychologist.
  • Interprets daily data from assessment and treatment sessions for consultation with Psychologist to make clinical decisions about the type of patient assessment/treatment session to conduct.
  • Serves as a contact for patient care providers, UIHC clinicians, outside service providers, and support personnel prior to, during, and following discharge from the service.
  • Supports care providers as they implement the treatment protocol and makes recommendations regarding the type and level of support the care provider will require to implement the protocols outside of the clinic setting.
  • Conducts prescribed assessment and treatment protocols.
  • Determines if additional services such as interpreters will be needed for the patient.
  • Independently collects and graphs patient assessment and treatment data. Use information from assessment graphs (functional analysis, concurrent operants, preference assessment, etc.) to propose recommendations for potential treatment plans to the Psychologist.
  • Participates in wrap-up meetings with parents, caregivers, school teams, etc. to review evaluation findings and the proposed treatment recommendations.
  • Writes daily progress notes for the patient's medical record. May assist with drafting the final report with recommendations for the patient.
  • May provide direction to hourly staff members and volunteers to ensure treatment integrity and by proposing daily task assignments to be reviewed by the Psychologist.
  • May assist Behavioral Health Clinic Manager in training new students in their roles and responsibilities for the Day Treatment clinic.
  • May offer input for Behavioral Health Clinic Manager to make projections on billable units/patient visits per month/per year.
  • Prepares clinic at beginning of each day (turns on computers, prepares client related play/work materials, ensures clean spaces, etc.) and cleans clinic area at end of day to ensure a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
  • Follows hospital protocols regarding safety of staff and patients, use of cleaning materials, protection of confidential patient information, appropriate dress code, etc. Informs Case Manager and Psychologist of possible compliance concerns with other staff.



Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or challenging behaviors.
  • Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills, showing the ability to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Computer software applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work as a cooperative team member.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification
  • Master's degree in a related Field.
  • Experience conducting behavioral assessments with individuals with challenging behaviors is highly desirable.
