Our GBAS Experience Design practice is looking to hire an experienced Design Systems Lead to our team. This individual will be a Sr Consultant, Principal, or Sr. Principal within Slalom's career framework. In this role you'll play a pivotal role in shaping pursuits, enabling our teams to achieve high valued outcomes for our clients.



What You'll Do



  • Play the critical role at the intersection of business needs and technological constraints to champion users' needs and translate those needs into products and services that are useful, usable, and engaging

  • Collaborate with team members to curate product experiences and inform and define design system requirements, coach teams on leading practices to create and maintain new design systems and consume existing systems, as well as develop the tools and processes they need to build high quality user experiences

  • Help define the vision and prioritize needs around a design system roadmap

  • Guide, advise and be ready to dive into UI libraries to demonstrate what good looks like and collaborate with developers to align on naming and component/pattern architecture

  • Help clients assess the usability and accessibility of finished designs through review and user studies and evaluations of digital products

  • Steward the design system and facilitate adoption by stakeholders - educating and advocating for the system, ensuring teams find it useful and can contribute to maturing the design system practice • Write documentation and usage guidelines that help designers, engineers, and other stakeholders understand and use foundations, components and patterns across design and code (for a variety of use cases and platform-specific scenarios)

  • Establish information architectures and navigation for design systems - within a documentation site, and between parts of the system (e.g. from the design tool to Storybook, or documentation site to code repository)

  • Foster relationships with alliance partners specific to design systems (e.g. Figma, Knapsack, zeroheight, etc.)

  • Drive sales aligned to design systems capability through proactive solutioning within new and existing client engagements


What You'll Bring



  • Prior experience with enterprise design systems - establishing a practice, building/maintaining the product and ensuring success

  • Solid grasp of systems thinking - how to decompose a digital experience into smaller reusable parts and restructure coherently to design scalable solutions

  • A passion for designing for all users inclusively and considering accessibility and conforming to WCAG guidelines and localization as part of your process

  • Expert-level proficiency with common design tools/software (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, Axure, etc.) Working knowledge of code and frameworks is a plus.

  • Prior technical writing experience and ability to distill complex concepts into simplified plain language.

  • Strong knowledge of interaction design principles and working knowledge of broader design principles (color, type, grids, etc.).

  • Outstanding communication, design thought leadership, presentation and storytelling skills to all levels of business and technology clients

  • Experience in scoping and estimating work, driving sales, and leading others are all pluses

Compensation and Benefits

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.In New York, the base salary pay range for this position is Sr Consultant $131,000 to $203,000, Principal $145,000 to $225,000 and Sr Principal $167,000 to $258,000. In New Jersey and Washington, the base salary pay range for this position is Sr Consultant $120,000 to $186,000, Principal $133,000 to $206,000, Sr Principal $153,000 to $237,000. In Colorado, the base salary pay range for this position is Sr Consultant $110,000 to $171,000, Principal $122,000 to $189,000, Sr Principal $140,000 to $217,000. The targeted base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
