Job Description:

Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Responsible and safe installation and removal of engines on dynamometers for development, performance, and durability testing which includes mounting of engine on cart or pedestals, instrumentation, and any necessary fabrication
  • Collaborate directly with engineering team to run the desired tests and generate the required data
  • Responsible for testing of complete UUT and or part specific items including overseeing all mechanical work performed on the engine while in dyno department, such as engine test part changes and retesting as required
  • Ability to perform maintenance and inspection of all dyno components using non-destructive methods
  • Utilize AVL dynamometer testing equipment and PUMA and Bobcat operating automation software
  • Utilize KS engineering Tornado automation software
  • Develop and write tests using the AVL "PUMA OPEN" platform
  • Ability to analyze and understand test data and maintain clear and concise records
  • Test cell equipment maintenance and calibration for ISO compliance
  • Maintain dyno facilities and equipment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in an engine dynamometer environment
  • Light machining and fabrication skills are beneficial for set up and maintenance
  • Good Housekeeping and strong commitment to safety
  • Proficient with AVL PUMA operating and Indicom combustion analysis systems
  • Strong computer & typing skills; being proficient with all MS Office especially with a focus on Excel, macros, visual basic, etc
  • Individual must be available to support weekend overtime when required

Demonstrated Physical Abilities/Work Environment

  • Dynamometer Technician must frequently lift and/ or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. Dynamometer Technician is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl an talk or hear.
  • This position is very technical, diverse and challenging, and requires an individual that is open to learning new practices and works well in a team atmosphere.
