Responsibilities

The Esri GIS Integrator plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level GIS solutions based on Esri's ArcGIS platform. This role requires a deep understanding of GIS technologies, as well as strong architectural and project management skills. The Enterprise Architect collaborates with stakeholders across various departments to assess business requirements, develop architectural designs, and ensure the successful deployment and integration of GIS solutions within the organization. The ideal candidate is able to perfomr these essential duties satisfactorily.

Architectural Design:

  • Develop comprehensive architectural designs for enterprise GIS solutions based on business requirements and industry best practices.
    Design scalable, high-performance architectures that support the organization's current needs and future growth.
    Ensure architectural alignment with Esri's product offerings and technology roadmap.

Solution Implementation:

  • Lead the implementation of GIS solutions, working closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout the implementation process to ensure adherence to architectural principles and best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, deliverables, and timelines.

Integration and Interoperability:

  • Design and implement integrations between GIS solutions and other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, EAM, CRM, BI) to enable data sharing and workflow automation.
    Ensure interoperability with external data sources and spatial data infrastructure (SDI) standards.

Performance Optimization and Scalability:

  • Identify performance bottlenecks and scalability issues within GIS architectures and propose solutions to address them.
    Optimize system configurations, database schemas, and application code to improve performance and resource utilization.

Security and Compliance:

  • Define security requirements and implement robust security controls to protect GIS data and infrastructure from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data privacy, security, and spatial data management.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and implementation guides.
    Conduct training sessions and workshops to transfer knowledge about GIS technologies and best practices to internal teams.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or related field.
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in designing and implementing enterprise GIS solutions using Esri's ArcGIS platform.
  • In-depth knowledge of GIS concepts, spatial data management, and geospatial analysis techniques.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles, including distributed systems, microservices, and cloud computing.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java, as well as experience with GIS development frameworks (e.g., ArcGIS API for JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and spatial databases (e.g., Esri File Geodatabase, ArcSDE).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Certifications and/or Licensing Requirements

  • Relevant certifications such as Esri Enterprise System Design Associate (ESDA) or Esri Certified Enterprise Architect (ECEA) are a plus.
