DEAN OF STUDENTS

The Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) invites applications for the full-time position of Dean of Students. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the Dean of Students provides vision and leadership to develop, implement, and assess a broad range of programs that promote student wellbeing and success. The Dean leads the Student Affairs (SA) staff to collaborate with the CIA community, identifying needs and opportunities to create and enhance programs, services, and policies with the goal of promoting a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive community. This role serves as a member of the Presidents Cabinet.

The Dean of Students will establish and implement a vision for student affairs in alignment with college mission, values, and the strategic plan. In collaboration with the student affairs staff, develop, implement, and assess long-range, comprehensive programs and services that support the co- and extra-curricular experience of students and responds to students' needs and interests. This individual participates as requested at Board of Directors meetings and similar events, ensures compliance regarding federal, state, and college policies/procedures. Maintains and communicates currency of trends in student life, particularly concerning retention of students, data analysis, and related standards of excellence to the college community.

A Masters' degree and minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education, preferably some of this experience at an independent college. The successful candidate will have the ability to plan, organize and implement campus and collegewide student affairs programs and ability to provide leadership to the College regarding such activities; to direct, develop and guide the work of staff. Ability to communicate and work effectively with others within and outside of the institution. Excellent leadership, organization, presentation, and customer service skills as well as the ability to lead, instruct, train, guide, and motivate others.

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. CIA offers a benefit package including; vacation, sick, and personal time accrual, as well as additional time off while the college is closed during winter break. CIA offers health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and inter-museum council discounts.
