Provides administrative and legal support to General Counsel. Under the direction of the General Counsel resolves routine legal issues. Familiar with a variety of legal concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected to provide administrative and legal support to the General Counsel's office. May lead and direct the work of others as well as develop relationships with clients and Costco.
Composes correspondence, legal documents, agreements and gather responsive discovery data and documentation related to litigation and non-litigation matters. Establish and maintains confidential files and records
Assist General Counsel and outside counsel with acquisitions.
Organizes and expedites flow of work through the General Counsel's office.
Resolves a wide range of legal questions under the direction of the General Counsel and outside counsel.
Schedules appointments and conference calls and coordinates arrangements for conferences, court appearances, depositions, meetings and travel.
May act as a liaison between corporate office, field management, and General Counsel's office in gathering of facts to determine causes of action.
Gathers appropriate data and prepares special or ad-hoc reports, summaries and/or replies to inquiries,
Organizes and maintains corporate/legal files; fulfills requests for documents and information
Coordinates all arrangements for Board of Directors and Committee meetings, including preparation of meeting books and travel arrangements
Provides administrative support to General Counsel and Executive Chairman with filing, preparation of documents in Word and Excel, travel, expense reports, meeting coordination, etc.
Wide range of independent judgment and decision making is exercised. Handles highly confidential and non-routine information
May interview, hire, plan, and direct the work of others.
Build strong relationships with Costco associates with their various charity and corporate events
Education
Associate in Arts Degree
Work Experience
Associates Degree required, bachelor's degree preferred and 7 years of experience supporting executive(s) or attorney(s). Legal experience is required.
