Job Description:

The Role:

  • Our site in Colorado Springs is seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer to develop and implement automation solutions to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. The role will involve designing, programming, testing, and maintaining automated systems across various stages of the manufacturing process.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for automation within the manufacturing process.

  • Design, develop, and implement automated systems, including robotics, conveyor systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

  • Create detailed technical specifications, schematics, and drawings for automation equipment.

  • Write and debug code for PLCs, robotic arms, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other control systems.

  • Integrate automation systems with existing manufacturing equipment and software platforms.

  • Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation systems and workflows.

  • Monitor system performance, collect data, and adjust improve reliability, productivity, and quality.

  • Provide technical support for automation equipment, troubleshooting issues and resolving downtime quickly.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the long-term reliability of automation systems.

  • Train manufacturing staff on the operation and maintenance of automated equipment.

  • Ensure that automation systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to protect personnel and equipment.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to automation in manufacturing.

What We Seek:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in designing, programming, and implementing automation systems within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB), and industrial control systems.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, and material handling.

  • Familiarity with CAD software for designing automation equipment (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Occasional domestic travel - up to 20%.

Base salary range - $115K - 135K depending upon experience.
