Symmetri Marketing Group has an immediate need for a Front-end Developer to help in the build and maintenance of WordPress and Drupal websites. This role will include developing compelling user interfaces, site building, quality-assurance testing, administration tasks and performing custom web development.
You should have experience with current and emerging technologies including PHP, JavaScript, and CSS to name a few. Additionally, you should be familiar with the PAAS hosting (WP Engine, Platform.sh, Pantheon, Acquia), Linux, Git and other tools. Experience with WordPress is a must; Drupal experience is a strong plus. Familiarity and experience with other open source applications is also an advantage. The position is in our Plymouth, Michigan, office, but candidates from Chicago or who work remotely should also apply.

Serve as a developer owning the front-end / presentation-layer portions of projects
Serve as a site builder, themer, as well as content administrator on various efforts for Wordpress and Drupal sites
Participate in both unit and UAT testing
Support front-end and content-related tickets to service client's ongoing site enhancement retainers
Working knowledge or expertise in the following technical areas:
WordPress - Build WordPress themes from scratch, including experience with Gutenberg, Advanced Custom Fields or Elementor
Twig experience strongly preferred
Adhere to current PHP, HTML5, CSS3 standards and best practices
Clean, semantic, valid HTML
Fully responsive
Accessibility experience is a plus
Build Tools - Composer, Webpack, Sass, Gulp and JAMStack
JS -Vanilla JS, jQuery, ReactJS and NextJS
UI / UX - Experience and passion to create beautiful work
Deployments into staging and production server environments
Quality Assurance & Testing - Writing clean code and testing it throughout the development process to ensure the quality is up to standards
Utilize Git for version control of all projects
Develop HTML email templates to support marketing automation and campaign initiatives
Communicate timing needs and estimates with Project Managers and team
Participate in project evaluations, meetings, and other activities where needed
Hands-on experience integrating UI animation frameworks such as Lottie, GSAP, Animate.CSS, etc.
Experience with design hand-offs in environments such as Figma or Zeppelin is a plus!
Skills and Experience Required Must have 3+ years of experience in web development
Intermediate proficiency and best practice working experience with scripting and interface languages such as:

Intermediate experience working with open-source web platforms (e.g. WordPress)
Ability to execute mid-level custom front-end development assignment
Experience with responsive design and frameworks
Experience with Twig template engine for PHP and WordPress theme projects
Understanding of UI design principles of good usability, especially knowing when something is bad
Demonstrated creative excellence in solving layout and technical challenges
Knowledge and expertise with cross-browser compatibility issues (CSS, JavaScript, HTML5)
Demonstrate a willingness, interest, and aptitude to learn new technologies and skills
Basic understanding of analytics, SEO, social, and marketing automation
Ability to create HTML email templates when needed.
Possess a willingness and attitude to help our clients find workable solutions that creatively solve their marketing and technology challenges
Experience with Composer-based workflow
Able to follow direction and able to get things done without being micromanaged
