Position Overview The Mechanical Designer-Drafter performs drafting functions for development of new and existing products using Autodesk Suite (AutoCAD) software. He/she may also be required to draft as-built equipment and to update Bills of Material (BOM). Candidates should be proficient preparing mechanical drawings, layout drawings, parts/materials lists and 3-D models. Be able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Provide design and drafting support to other designers and engineers in the areas of mechanical design, documentation, assembly and installation.
Prepare various mechanical drawings, 3-D models, structural steel support/framing drawings, weldment drawings, part detail drawings and Excel BOMs.
Assist in selecting basic mechanical equipment, valves, conveyors, blowers, fans, materials, fasteners and coatings as defined in project specifications.
Performs a preliminary self-check of drawings produced prior to submitting them to the project engineer for approval.
Assists designers and engineers with shop and field modifications of equipment and "As Built" mark-ups.
Requirements
Associate's Degree in related field or equivalent and 5-8 years drafting experience in industrial mechanical engineering, or
8-12 years of relevant drafting experience.
Proficient in rapid equipment design/drafting using AutoCAD (version 2010+).
Material Handling Equipment, Piping, Conveyor Systems, and Structural Steel is a major plus.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite products.
