Job Summary

This position will coordinate and manage the daily administrative operations of the Student Dining and Residential Programs Building (SDRP), and meeting space reservations for Illinois Street Residence Halls (ISR) within University Housing.



Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provide direct and/or indirect supervision of student staff employed at the SDRP Information Desk and Package Station including hiring, and training.
  • Coordinate meeting space reservation details for SDRP and ISR including set ups with Housing Staff, SDRP Building Staff, Residents, Student Group Leaders, and Campus Departments.
  • Engages in the implementation of Residential Life's SDRP and Conference Services programs and objectives.
  • Collaborates and attends meetings with University Housing, Residential Life and external partners as required
    of position.
  • Provides comprehensive reports and detailed analyses for administrative use including space reservation and room usage at the SDRP and space reservations at ISR
  • Assist with technology needs for patrons using the SDRP.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Attends to the fiscal management of business operations and creates invoices.


Additional Physical Demands

This position is required to respond to multiple requests in a fast-paced environment, to work independently within specified time constraints, requires sound judgment and decision making and strong interpersonal and technical skills.

The position requires movement around an expansive facility, the Student Dining and Residential Programs Building, Illinois Street Residence Halls and other University Housing administrative buildings, some travel around campus and the community, and occasional lifting.

This work is mostly performed in an office setting.



Minimum Qualifications



Bachelor's degree. Two years of professional experience that included space management, customer service, and supervision of student employees.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • The ability to work in an environment with diverse staff and students.

  • Knowledge of management principle, practices, methods, and techniques.

  • Supervisory and administrative abilities.

  • Decision making ability.

  • Ability to work effectively with the staff and public.


Rate of Pay:


The rate of pay for Extra Help - Program Buildings Coordinator for Residential Life positions start at $20.25 per hour. The rate of pay is determined by the job description submitted by the department.



Work Schedule:


We offer short or long-term assignments up to 900 hours, which is about 6-months of full-time work. Employees can work either full or partial days and full or partial weeks.



Extra Help Positions:


Extra Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within units. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Extra Help employees do not receive holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.

Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with the University of Illinois, including your position on and Civil Service register.
