Clinical Research Coordinator at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee

Job Description:

The research coordinator should have a prior experience with multi-tasking skills in working with clinical/dental research. He / She will directly assist clinical faculty in identifying, recruiting and consenting qualified patients for designated research study, schedule the visits at various time intervals, consent, instrument the REDCap surveys on each subject, oral specimen collection & processing including blood, record keeping, data analysis, assist in IRB protocols, and schedule the meetings, with in the School of Dentistry, and Meharry Community HIV Wellness Center. He / She is responsible in establishing clinical standard operating procedures (SOP), collecting and storing oral (Saliva, throat wash, dental plaque, oral swabs etc) and blood specimens as part of research project(s) by following study protocols. In addition, the research coordinator will assist with preparing IRB protocols, scheduling scientific meetings between collaborators, and transfer the specimens to other laboratories. The Research Coordinator is responsible in saving all patient information (all IRB documents, SOP) & research data in lock and key and help the faculty in working with IRB during entire research period. Good to have wet lab research (ELISA's, Protein, RNA experiments etc) experience but not essential.



Daily Operations



• Identify qualified subjects, Consent patients, take the research surveys in REDCap for assigned research projects.
• Assist faculty/students to prepare IRB documents and REDCap surveys; administer surveys to all subjects and data management etc
• Collect oral and blood specimens, process, store in proper places and manage records in a confidential manner
• Organize the research meetings, note the minutes as appropriate
• Assist faculty/students to work on preparing research meeting documents, posters, printing etc
• Performs other related duties as assigned.(clinical, wet lab research such as ELISAs etc)



Required Skills



Must have clinical research background, data management, working with patients, basic research knowledge. Must be able to working independently and various groups of teams in the clinics.



Required Education and Experience



B.S, M.S, PhD, M.D, DDS: Minimum two years of working experience in the clinical laboratories.
