Alaska West Express is looking for individuals who possess a positive attitude and who are customer driven to work seasonally in Fairbanks, Alaska!  The position is based in Fairbanks, Alaska, but open to candidates from other states as well. 

AWE is Alaska’s largest intermodal tank and chassis operator, specializing in truckload transportation across the United States and Canada. Renowned for its reliability in transporting various products, including hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, petroleum products, and bulk materials, AWE serves industries such as oilfield, mining, construction, and manufacturing. This position is integral to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our fleet.

  • Compensation:  $27 – $30 / Hour + travel pay + airfare + room and board + Per Diem for meals

  • Schedule:  4 weeks on 2 off or 3 weeks on 3 off (staying longer is an option) - 40 hours minimum, 2:30 pm to 11 pm with a ½ hour lunch


  • Benefits:  No benefits for seasonal recruits


  • Other:  Options to work multiple seasons

Qualifications 

We are looking for someone with one to three years’ experience with class 8 tractors and trailers.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Technical School degree in related field is recommended, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age. FHWA and brake certifications preferred.

What You’ll Do 



  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform maintenance and repairs on commercial motor vehicles (Class 8) in challenging weather conditions.


  • Equipment Maintenance: Service a variety of equipment both indoors and outdoors.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies and DOT regulations, ensuring the highest standards of safety.


  • Record Keeping: Document work performed in the Lynden truck maintenance system.


  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a dedicated team to ensure customer satisfaction and operational success.
