Position Overview:

The Architect/Job Captain is responsible for assisting in the building design effort from start to finish and managing the production of building construction documents in accordance with applicable codes and regulations. As Job Captain, you will interact with clients and project managers to understand project needs and work to provide the first round of quality assurance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand how to assemble a set of construction documents, both drawings and specifications
  • Interpret and apply specific project requirements.
  • Research and apply the basics of the building code.
  • Competently utilize AutoCAD and Photoshop, Revit experience a plus
  • Delegate tasks and provide direction to junior team members.
  • Apply example project to the current job and be able to implement with direction from PA/PM
  • Gather and apply information from AHJ.
  • Provide day to day assistance with project Construction Administration, including preliminary review of shop drawings.
  • Assess how plan changes may impact accessibility and other drawings in the set.
  • Coordinate the work of other disciplines.
  • Understand the accessibility code and how to apply it to a specific project.
  • Work independently within a project team and closely with the Project Architect

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or B.A. in Architecture required, BArch or MArch preferred.
  • LEED accreditation is a plus.
  • 4+ years' experience with architectural and engineering drawings.
  • MUST demonstrate proficiency in using AutoCAD/Revit and Adobe Suite.
  • Ability to assist in the training and oversight of coworkers.
  • Understanding of design industry workflows, production cycle, and priorities.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and building materials used.
  • Working knowledge of building and accessibility codes.
