Job Description:

Position: Slitting Line Packager

Location: 1500 Coining Drive, Toledo OH

Shift: Days

Reports to: Plant Supervisors

SUMMARY: Operates the banding line and tools to package and band processed materials by following the Instructions of the Supervisor and/or instructions contained on the packaging codes to store, or ship processed material in accordance with Company, customer, or product needs while following the Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Operator directs activity of assigned crew to achieve the above objectives, as well as meet Productivity targets as set out in the production set-up information.

Responsibilities: 

• Monitors machine operation ensuring coils stack or are packaged properly, and the machine operates safely.


• Assists slitting crew with the offloading of material. 


• Prepares materials needed for packaging following prescribed routines in moving and operating machines or as directed by supervisor. 


• Packages material according to packaging codes. May instruct forklift truck operator to move product to staging area for shipment or move material themselves if certified on the forklift. 


• Discharges material from packaging line to warehouse for storage.


• Completes all related paperwork.


• Arrange for material to be delivered to the line when required and confirm material is correct for the job being run.


• Follow set-up steps as described in production set-up information and QDC procedures.


• Perform product / process audits and report findings internally as set out in procedures.


• Ensure ALL Exposed Product is treated as prime material according to exposed product procedures.


• Responsible for the Safe and Efficient operation of banding line and all personnel.


• Ensure the correct packaging and labelling requirements meet customer specifications.


• Ensure proper tagging of finished parts and transfer to finished goods area.


• Proven team leader in assigning tasks and resolving issues to ensure efficiency standards are met.


• Maintains neat and accurate records.


• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

General:

• Complies with the designated IATF16949 responsibilities, environmental management system, health & safety and company rules and guidelines.


• Ensures company safety policies are adhered to, and that all department personnel and visitors utilize safe work habits. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as always required


• Maintains a high standard of general housekeeping consistent with 5S standards


• Strives for continuous improvement

Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of job-related experience in handling Automotive Exposed and Non-Exposed product.
