Offset/Letterpress Operator - Printing

Letter Press Department

Reports to: Department Supervisor

Purpose: Produce printed materials in accordance with customer specifications and established guidelines for quality, quantity, accuracy, and speed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of printing techniques and Offset printing.
• Familiarity with printing operations, guidelines and procedures.
• The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• The ability to read a ruler.
• The ability to run all presses and equipment in the designated department.

General Duties:
• Set up, operate, and maintain all presses and machinery in the department in accordance with established company guidelines.
• Make adjustments to plates, ink wells, and stock.
• Monitor equipment during the process for quality and consistency of the finished product.
• Apply chemicals, inks, and cleaning solvents to press for proper operation.
• Read and understand tracers, copy sheets, manifest sheets, and other instruction sheets.
• Provide training, support, and expertise to other employees throughout the company.
• Clean, oil, grease, adjust, repair, and service equipment.
• Identify opportunities to increase productivity.
• Ensure all safety guards and procedures are observed.
• Maintain a record of work time spent and materials used per order.
• Assist throughout the department and plant as requested, operating related equipment to facilitate workflow.
• Maintain and clean the work area.

Job Requirements:
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Full-color vision in all hues, spectrums, and shades is required.
• Overtime will be required.
• Weekend work will be required.
• Attendance is essential; it must be reliable, dependable,e and punctual.
• This is a Safety Sensitive Position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.

This position requires handling confidential information discreetly and professionally.

Physical Requirements:
• The ability to lift 20 pounds and more excellent several times a shift.
• Position will require reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, lifting, grasping, physical manipulation of heavy objects and standing for long periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma required. Some secondary education is preferred. Similar work experience preferred.

Work Environment:

This is an onsite working position in a production environment. You may be exposed to the following:
• Heavy equipment and moving parts.
• Petroleum and alcohol-based chemicals.
• UV curable inks
• Moderate levels of paper dust
• You must wear ear plugs if noise level exceeds 85 dBA.
