GENERAL SUMMARY
The Designer I reports to a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager and conducts work requiring judgment and application of civil engineering design practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage the project development process encompassing construction, retail design, site planning, site engineering, and structural and MEP considerations as applicable.

  • Produce contract documents conforming to applicable building and/or zoning codes.

  • Collaborate with internal and external team members as necessary.

  • Review shop drawings, conduct site visits, and support the Project Engineer or Project Designer as required.

  • Performs most assignments with instructions only as to the general results expected.

  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex design issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Profound technical expertise in civil engineering.

  • Ability to coordinate, draft, and/or revise specifications pertinent to civil engineering.

  • Strong leadership capabilities, including the capacity to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality service to clients.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Effective planning, organizing, time management, and multitasking skills, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team setting.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking ability.

  • Proficient in current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Hydro, MS Word, and MS Excel.

  • General understanding of engineering principles related to site development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering.

  • Recent graduate to 3 years of experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office setting, onsite at client locations, and on construction/building sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires sufficient physical ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform work in an office setting, which includes extensive employee contact, frequent interruptions, the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist, to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, to verbally communicate to exchange information, to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, to verbally communicate to exchange information with or without accommodation, to see in the normal visual range with or without correction, and can hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. This position requires physical mobility on and around construction sites before and after the installation of landscaping, pavement, stairs, elevators, electricity, heating, and air conditioning.
