Position Description

Provide direct support to the Director, Business Processes or Manager, Business Processes relative to system support, implementation and other accounting projects.
Essential duties and responsibilities:


  • Responsible for activities and assignments related to Kinder Morgan Terminals and Products Pipeline business segment systems, including Contract and Revenue business systems.

  • Works directly with business management and end-users to gather and document work processes and to identify application gaps and functional system requirements.

  • Works directly with IT personnel and management to create written and graphical functional system requirements.

  • Reviews new system functionality prior to user test to ensure user requirements have been met.

  • Identifies and modifies business procedures to solve business problems using good information technology practices, keeping in mind the capacity and limitations of the hardware/software, system response time, and form of desired results.

  • Trains end users on system functionality and supports the users and system throughout the duration of the deployment and or throughout the lifecycle of the application.

  • Works under stringent deadlines.

  • Creates and manages project plans, timelines, training documentation, requirements documentation and other applicable application project and or support documentation.


Position Requirements


  • BS or BA degree, or equivalent experience, in Finance, Accounting or MIS.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years with business analysis and system implementation.

  • Experience in application deployment activities including business requirements gathering, system training and support.

  • Experience working with systems applications and operations in the energy transportation industry.

  • Understanding of petroleum pipelines and terminals preferred.

  • Experience with Product Movement, Inventory or Accounting processes.

  • Experience in effectively communicating business and technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience in working on multiple assignments simultaneously and juggling tasks based on relative priorities.

  • Experience using spreadsheets to query and analyze data.

  • Knowledge of Merlin billing system is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to document systems requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-starter that can work with minimal supervision - takes initiative.

  • Uses time effectively and efficiently. Driven and energetic.

  • Team player, values input of others and strives to solve problems for the good of all.

  • Can represent own interests and yet be sensitive to others. Is cooperative and encourages collaboration.

  • Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and priorities, and handle work interruptions.

  • Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude.

  • Must be available for extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
