Job Summary

Roane State Community College invites applications for a 1-year non-tenure track position in Biology with a focus on teaching lectures and labs in General Biology. Qualified candidates are expected to provide rigorous instruction for student learning. Major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories. Candidates must have a minimum of a master's degree in a biological science. Teaching duties will be assigned based on departmental need and may include evening hours and/or travel to satellite campuses.

Appointment is expected to being August 2024.

Candidates must submit a cover letter describing their teaching experience and qualifications/expectations for this position.

Job Duties

1. Plan and teach classes as outlined in course descriptions and standard course syllabi through a traditional face-to-face setting.

2. The ability to teach and facilitate student engagement through online instruction.

3. Teach 15 course hours per semester and schedule office hours as specified by college policy.

4. Use of technology to support student learning is expected.

5. Other duties may include student advising, collaboration with faculty in developing curricula, and participation in service and/or professional development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a master's degree with 18 or more graduation semester hours in the biological sciences. Candidates must have good oral and written communication skills. Candidates must exhibit flexibility and collegiality. A minimum of one-year of college level teaching experience.
