Summary

Assembly Lead directs the daily activities of the assembly department in an efficient manner for the desired quality and quantity of work. Assembly Lead reports directly to the Plant Manager. This position supervises all work related to Assembly in order to prepare products for shipment .

Essential Duties


  • Supervises the activities of the assigned departments.

  • Direct production workers with respect to focus on assembly volume, cost, quality and meeting assembly schedules and delivery dates.

  • Stimulates maximum efficiency of production workers.

  • Confers with the Plant Manager to establish working schedules for the assembly department.

  • Maintains adherence to Company Policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.

  • Recommend the hiring and releasing of assembly personnel as required for maintaining schedules.

  • Prepares the assembly schedules for the first and second shift (if applicable).

  • Assures that all machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.

  • Schedules overtime, as required.

  • Arranges to have appropriate production records prepared and maintained.

  • Maintains good employee relations and adherence to federal, state and local labor laws, takes proper action to recommend disciplinary measures when required, assists first step problem solving, and participates in second-step meetings.

  • Keep excellent records of departmental activities, as required.

  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.

  • In concert with individual supervisors, establishes accountabilities, goals and objectives used for performance evaluation.

  • Performs other duties as required or directed.

Knowledge/Skills


  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizations skills.


Experience


  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • At least 1 year experience as a plant laborer or equivalent.

  • Must have forklift and crane operator certification, or be able to attain certification.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands


  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

  • Job responsibilities involve occasional use of hand tools and power tools.


Education/Certification

  • High School, Trade School; or at least 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay rate is $26/hr.
