Founded in 1984, Best Formulations LLC, a diversified nutraceutical and personal care company headquartered in City of Industry, California, is a contract manufacturer of thousands of branded SKUs, including high quality nutritional supplements including softgels, tablets, capsules, powders, teas, dietary supplements, and vegetarian softgels.

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and fostering a culture of safety within the plant environment. The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, administering, and enforcing plant-wide safety, health, and environmental programs. This role requires a proactive approach to addressing EHS issues and concerns, with approximately 30% of the time dedicated to being out in the plant environment.

Key Responsibilities:



  1. Implementation and Administration: Oversee the implementation, administration, and enforcement of safety, health, and environmental programs throughout the plant.


  2. Project Support: Collaborate on projects to create and update lockout/tagout procedures, PPE assessments, and other safety-related initiatives.


  3. Document Management: Maintain accurate documentation including training records, permits, Safety Data Sheets, and Lists of Hazardous Materials. Archive records and electronic files as necessary.


  4. Equipment Inspections: Ensure that monthly inspections are scanned and logged by each department to include ladders, extinguishers, and emergency lighting and signs.


  5. Compliance Inspections: Perform periodic site inspections to assess safety and environmental compliance, including assessments of stormwater and chemical storage areas.


  6. Training: Assist in creating and delivering training materials, including daily toolbox sessions, stretch and flex, task training, and annual refresher training for employees.


  7. Industrial Hygiene: Conduct industrial hygiene surveys for noise exposure and airborne contaminants, using services provided by the company's insurance brokers.


  8. Promotion of Awareness: Promote personal development and awareness of EHS requirements among all plant personnel.


  9. Presence in Plant: Maintain a consistent presence out in the plant environment, monitoring safety activities and addressing concerns as they arise. Working on the lines with employees to assess workplace issues.


  10. Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with both hourly and management employees, fostering cooperation and collaboration.


  11. Procedure Development: Assist in the development and implementation of EHS work procedures to enhance safety and compliance.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar safety-related role.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with employees at all levels and remain flexible in decision-making.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify EHS issues and propose effective solutions.

  • Thorough understanding of EHS regulations and policies, as well as industry requirements and best practices.

  • Familiarity with training programs and materials to support EHS education within the plant environment.

Work Demands and Environment:


  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, safety-toed boots, respirator, and other PPE as needed.

  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures may be required.

  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, demonstrating manual dexterity, and climbing stairs and ladders as necessary.

  • May involve exposure to allergens such as Soy, Wheat, Fish, Shellfish, Milk, Egg, Tree Nuts and Sesame.

This position is currently classified as on-site.

Base Salary Range: $77,000 - $90,000 per year, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Holidays, Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
