Job Title: NMC Specialist Location: Scottsville Rd., Rochester NY
Reports to: Supervisor - OSG Telecommunications Work type: Office The base pay range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $66,597-$86,576. Note: this is an hourly, non-exempt position. Shift differential applies for second and third shifts.
Summary:
The NMC Specialist must have experience working within a network management center or similar environment. Will be responsible for monitoring, correlating, troubleshooting and resolving network alarms and performance deviations across client networks. These networks consist of multiple technologies including (but not limited to) Fiber-Optic Cabling, Microwave, LTE, switching, routing, and firewalls and is a multi-vendor environment. The technicians must be able to work independently and collaboratively with multiple fix agencies to ensure problems are resolved in a timely manner. The resources must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate across ranging technical skillsets and executive management. This service requires 24x7x365 onsite support, candidates must be able to support flexible hours and rotating schedules to ensure all shifts are covered.
Main tasks:
Perform daily fault and performance analysis using a variety of monitoring tools to discover network impairments
Ability to review network logs to discern state changes of network equipment
Perform remote resolution of faults through various operating and control systems
Creation and routing of network tickets to appropriate designated fix agents
Perform routine ticket management and escalations to drive problems to final resolution
Use a combination of various tools to correlate multiple faults and/or system presented data into singular network impairments
Communicate openly and effectively with multiple teams
Manage fix bridges on large scale and/or high severity issues that involve multiple teams/participants including Executive level communication
Utilize, manage and maintain network and performance monitoring tools to ensure network reliability in both Windows and Linux environments (SNMP, SolarWinds, WhatsUp Gold, Nagios, Netcool, NEMs)
Utilize element management systems (EMS) to manage manufacturer's equipment distributed throughout the network.
Update technical documentation
The NMC Specialist will be responsible for collecting, documenting, and analyzing customer trouble reports. We will use this data to correlate network paths and common elements to isolate and resolve outages or troubles on the network
Work with Field Technicians and local management to assist in the development of works and basic issues

Qualifications
Excellent in written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in using Microsoft office application such as Outlook, Excel, Word
Ability to grasp higher-level technology issues and troubleshoot to resolution
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to work under pressure related to scale of business impact
Ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally
Ability to span departments to assist in resolving network event outages
Experience analyzing wireless networks, related equipment and/or performance
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet objectives and solve issues in stressful situations with high speed of completion and high degree of accuracy
Ability to quickly learn new tools and systems
Willingness to work on any assigned shift
Must be able to pass background checks, as well as NERC / CIP compliance testing
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with DOD and NIST Compliance
Experience of 1-3 years working in Network Operations Centers. This experience should include network monitoring, maintenance, and remote support
Knowledge of wireless network structure
Knowledge of Unix operating system and command structure
Basic knowledge of IP routing and protocols
