If you are an engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Littelfuse has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Rapid City, SD location, you will be part of the team that produces industrial electronics specifically in products for circuit protection and relays. As the mechanical engineer you will work on a variety of tasks from design/drawing changes to product enhancements to completely new product platforms.

Responsibilities:


  • Review internal/customer specifications and develop comprehensive design proposals for a variety of electronics assemblies.


  • Produce CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings from concept sketches and full production documentation.


  • Provide technical support to internal company departments such as quality, manufacturing, product management, and purchasing


  • Design and Support any production processing hardware, tooling and fixturing required to efficiently and safely produce new products.


  • Design and Support new production test fixturing.


  • Prepare procedures (assembly, testing, qualification, etc.) and perform stress analysis for products and materials.


  • Work with various agency and third party labs to ensure compliance with applicable standards


  • BOM creation for mechanical assemblies


  • Regularly report on project schedules


  • Ensure that project evidence such as Product Assurance Plans, procedures, written test processes and reports are in accordance with organizational and department policies.


  • Use prototyping tools such as 3D printers, CNC mill, lather and other shop equipment to realize design concepts.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical area


  • Must have experience with 3D CAD programs designing solid models, assemblies, and 2D detail drawings. Experience with Solidworks preferred


  • Strong communication skills



  • Familiar with thermal modeling to support electronics heat sink design.


  • Experience designing parts for stamped metal a plus


  • Technical knowledge of electronics manufacturing
