2024 Career Spring Summer Internship with Slalom (Houston Market)

Slalom's Houston office is looking for a self-driven individual who is interested in pursuing a career in consulting and has a passion for problem solving. The individual in this role will serve as an Intern within one of our consulting teams, playing an integral part in client and internal engagements, and ensure the timely completion of tasks, with a guided expansion of discipline breadth and depth. This three-week internship experience provides an opportunity to sharpen consulting skills while working as a part of a team committed to creating amazing outcomes for our clients. This internship experience will also involve various internal social and networking opportunities as a way to get to know our business more broadly.
Qualifications
Current participant of the Career Spring Program as of May 2024. *Students who are not part of the Career Spring Program will not be considered*
Current Freshman or Sophomore enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate program
Preferred major of computer science, business, management information systems, economics, organizational management and/or related
Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver messages to varied audiences
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a vast array of information
Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills
A rigorous and logical problem-solving approach
Adaptable self-starter who can create structure in ambiguous environments
Highly self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Responsibilities:
Independently complete required tasks with adequate direction
Demonstrate the ability to apply new concepts in a project setting
Build breadth and depth of knowledge as it relates to disciplines and projects
Embrace a learner mentality, growing your skills at every step of the process while seeking out the best ways to contribute to your project
Bring new ideas, passion, and energy to your work
Be an advocate and representative for Slalom's values
Learn and apply new technical concepts in a project and team setting
Develop an understanding of the services the firm delivers
Provide clear and concise documentation and communication with the project team, client, and leaders
Understand the business and project goals in order to deliver functional task
Reasonably estimate the time required to accomplish assigned tasks
Encouraged to participate in internal Slalom events or initiatives
Assignments could include:
Defining user requirements
Coding and testing applications
Analyzing, designing and implementing business process improvements
Researching work on a proposal
Developing an array of technology-based solutions to improve business performance-from interactive, virtual technologies to object-oriented, client/server and Internet applications
Developing training and human performance management programs
