Position Summary:


The primary function of this role is to design and execute process and equipment improvements to increase manufacturing efficiencies and throughput. This involves solving complex technical challenges and therefore experience with Kaizen leadership principles is required.


You will also collaborate with and influence key stakeholders to drive operational change for MZB-USA's roasting facility.


Essential Duties:


  • Lead CI initiatives and execute projects to drive manufacturing efficiencies using Kaizen principles throughout our operations

  • Review manufacturing processes to enhance operational effectiveness; benchmark with industry best practices, and create plans to implement change

  • Ensure the smooth functioning of production lines, develop new techniques, modify existing designs, and coordinate process improvement projects

  • Support equipment reliability programs and ensure OEMs and safety conditions are maintained and sustained throughout the facility

  • Collect and analyze data across manufacturing departments (Roasting, Grinding, Blending, Packaging) to achieve overall efficiencies and improve equipment reliability; this includes planning, inspections, quality targets, and daily schedule attainment to achieve planned metrics

  • Investigate operational inefficiencies and issues; conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures

  • Drive metrics and ROI through CI programs; work with teams to measure conditions and evaluate current process performance to address issues

  • Collaborate with teams on strategic projects related to efficiencies and equipment utilization; communicate technical opportunities and recommend solutions to management team

  • Develop and maintain training material and aid in the instruction and coaching of plant personnel

  • Foster process improvement training and workshops to drive cultural change

  • Educate manufacturing teams and implement continuous improvement methodologies including Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, OEEs, and Kaizen principles

  • Perform advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping, developing budgets, and cost analysis to determine project feasibility

  • Identify ways to reduce operational costs where needed

  • Coordinate and interface as needed with engineering, maintenance, R&D, purchasing, department managers, and front-line teams to improve processes

  • Facilitate technical discussions with customers, equipment vendors, and material suppliers; technical liaison with OEMs

  • Ensure manufacturing processes are standardized, well documented, safe, and in compliance

  • Implement performance and improvement processes that lead to positive and measurable results

  • Ensure a positive and safe work environment that fosters teamwork, trust, empowerment, and innovation

Qualifications & Requirements:


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering

  • Five years in CI / Engineering role - with a focus on Kaizen Leadership Principles

  • Kaizen Leadership Certification strongly preferred; certification as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

  • Experience working in a CPG environment preferred

  • Must be data-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive resolution and be a change agent; project management experience a plus

  • Must be able to drive change throughout the entire manufacturing/supply chain and lead complex technical projects

  • Must be a thought leader and strategic thinker with proven examples of making complex changes in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be willing to ask hard questions to ensure the best solutions are identified and executed

  • Proficient in DCA (data collection analysis)

  • Must be adept at group think problem-solving, as well as root cause analysis

  • Ability to communicate well and interact with all levels of the organization

  • Advanced knowledge of ERP applications and statistical software; must be able to read schematics

  • Training in Lean principles and Sig Sigma methodologies required

  • Must have previous experience in a Continuous Improvement-focused environment

  • Proven leadership and coaching skills needed

  • Capable of guiding and training front-line employees

  • Computer proficiencies and familiar with business software (drawing applications) required
