The Company is headquartered in Arlington, Texas, in the heart of the Dallas/Ft. Worth ‘Metroplex’. The Corporate Headquarters is located within walking distance of the iconic AT&T Stadium, home of the 5-time Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys, and The Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers baseball club. DFW Airport is also nearby. Our Manufacturing facility is in Arlington, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

Petmate is a leading manufacturer of high-quality plastics products serving various industries. With a commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability, we strive to deliver superior products that meet the evolving needs of our customers while minimizing environmental impact.

These are new roles to our manufacturing organization and we are seeking a talented and experienced Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and passion for optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, sustainability, products and equipment, as well as maintenance of existing products and processes. Plastics experience is preferred, but more important is problem solving, documentation and training a small group of technicians within a zone.

In parallel this position supports our Operations team to produce high quality products within a continuous improvement environment. This includes identifying and addressing production issues, ensuring that manufacturing processes are properly documented and executed, and working towards our cost improvement objectives. (such as labor and material savings).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Lead/support production operations
  • Lead/support development and execution of workflow and plan for equipment, procedures and policies to increase efficiency
  • Introduce innovations in production and identify cost-saving opportunities by performing cost analysis of new and existing processes
  • Effectively communicate and execute company expectations and objectives to various teams
  • Monitor and communicate project status, issues, and significant developments to stake holders
  • Execute the analysis/evaluation/implementation of various processes, equipment, and programs to support increased efficiencies, uptime, and safety
  • Ensure employees and equipment comply with safety regulations
  • Manage maintenance and mechanical emergencies
  • Develop procedures and work instructions to establish consistent, high-quality manufacturing processes
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement objectives and Lean initiatives
  • Design support equipment/tooling as needed using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Troubleshoot auxiliary equipment
  • Provide sustained support to the Manufacturing floor and 3rd party vendors
  • Other duties as assigned based on business needs
  • Ability to work over various shifts as required with the job (24/7 production facility)
    • Overtime and weekends (Saturday/Sunday) may be required.

  • Communicate with Equipment Vendors (Domestic/Abroad)
  • Use data, logic and experience, to identify problems and propose/implement solutions
  • Demonstrated personal time management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical information including but not limited to: manufacturing drawings, engineering instructions, and material data sheets.
  • Work in a team environment within a matrix organization environment
  • Occasionally move heavy parts (<50 pounds) with or without aids
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish) a plus

MINIMUM QUALIFICIATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical , Industrial, Manufacturing) or equivalent from accredited university
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling/drafting software, including FEA
  • A minimum of 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a Mid-High Volume Manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership experience, or direct supervisor experience preferred.
  • Experience in high volume production machining equipment, multiple types of applications and product lines (change overs, various tooling, molding).
  • Quality System Knowledge (ISO/QS/TS)
  • Structured Problem Solving skillswith a keen attention to detail. (8D/A3)
  • Experience with process optimization, statistical analysis, and Six Sigma methodologies, FMEA, DVP&R
  • Capital Equipment Justifications
  • Production Equipment Capacity Planning
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship

PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • 2-5 years of manufacturing in the Plastics Industry (Stretch Blow Molding, Injection Molding, Extrusion Blow Molding)
  • Experience with process production manufacturing (Plastic Mold Design, Plastic Mold Flow)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer screen in an office environment. Ability to stand, sit and bend and spend 50% or more time out on a production floor. A moderate tolerance of loud noises if needed to go out into the production facility.
