WOW Logistics is now hiring for an Operational Excellence Engineer - Level 2!

As an Operational Excellence Engineer - Level 2, you will be a key member of a cross functional team focused on continuous improvement. As a part of this team, the Operations Excellence Engineer - Level 2 will be responsible for the support and/or to initiate process improvements in conjunction with the Director of Operations, Distribution Center Managers, site leads and supervisors. Tools used will include but are not limited to Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen, and other lean manufacturing techniques through the disciplined use of identification, analysis, and measurement. This role is critical in the sustainability of the overall WOW Operational Excellence journey and framework.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop integrated supply chain solutions including facility layout, process flow, labor requirements, storage systems, material handling equipment, information technology systems, and other related items
  • Establish and maintain operations labor and volume models
  • Establish and maintain warehouse layout and capacity models
  • Analyze and implement warehouse management system (WMS) configurations for assigned operations, participating in UAT as needed
  • Responsible for the support of multi-functional efforts towards process improvement, data capture and analysis, infrastructure support, process ownership and required compliance to procedures
  • Act as the lead for at least three Kaizen events from start to finish over a year's time
  • Supports WOW's Operational Excellence Strategic direction to drive improvement of operations KPIs relating to inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, efficiency, safety, profit, and customer satisfaction
  • Act as the key contact to work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situation of data requires an evaluation of multiple business applications
  • Promote innovation in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, including monitoring the project, multi-level communications, and the collaborative preparation and presentation of operational suggestions, results, and metrics
  • Partner with management team to optimize operations processes and ensure linkage to company productivity and financial goals are met
  • Use of Lean methodology and tools to promote and nurture the highest standards of teamwork and cooperation to implement key strategic processes and programs
  • Act as the key contact to effectively teach less experienced personnel on the benefits of Lean applications towards manufacturing improvements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an Engineering discipline or industry experience equivalent
  • 5+ years of Industrial Engineering in warehousing or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in the implementation of lean manufacturing tool applications in a fast-paced environment is preferred
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience implementing process improvement initiatives preferred
  • 3-5 years demonstrated ability to train people and manage cultural changes to obtain buy-in of lead/JIT manufacturing principles is preferred
  • Bronze Lean Certification (AME) / Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Strong analytical and computer skills required using Microsoft office suite, project management software with the ability to track, document and report operational results required
  • Experience working in a WMS (warehouse management system) or ERP system preferred
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated success record of interacting with people at different levels, including making presentations to senior staff member
