JOB SUMMARY:
Oilgear is an industry leader in developing hydraulic components and systems. We are currently looking for a mechanical/design engineer to join our New Product Development team. This person will work with the team to design and develop hydraulic components. In this role, the ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance and Supply Chain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical understanding of the design and manufacture of Hydraulic components and systems (Pumps and Rotary Actuators)
Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following industry and internal standards
Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and other departments both written and orally.
Develop DFMEAs and subsequent test plans in order to mitigate design risks
Develop engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to determine design factors such as size, shape, and layout of new designs
Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Finance to ensure designs are streamlined for manufacturability through design reviews
Evaluate and approve designs and specification changes through continuous improvement
Be able to assist with reliability and validation testing
Prepares interim and completion project reports
Working in a hands-on production environment
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required/Preferred
Bachelor's degree in related field
7 + years' experience as a Mechanical/Design Engineer or 5+ years' in hydraulic component design
Experience with engineering CAD and analysis tools (Solidworks, CREO, FEA, ANSYS, etc.)
Experience with material science applied to mechanical engineering
Understanding of industry standards (ASTM, ASME, ANSI, ABS, DNV etc.)
Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written responsibilities
Must be a self-starter, self-motivated and be able to embrace multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimum guidance
Strong background in the designing of machined and casted components.
Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection and heat-treating processes
Strong analytical skills using engineering fundamentals and analysis tools
Relationships and Authority:
This position has no supervisory authority.

Manufacturing plant and professional office environments.
