Summary of Position:

The Flight Data Engineer is responsible for processing and analyzing CVFDR (Cockpit Voice & Flight Data Recorder) data and equivalent FDM (Flight Data Monitoring) parameters, to facilitate comprehension of a particular event, occurrence, or accident. The position will work closely with ITA Geo Continued Airworthiness Office, under the delegation and support from the core team in Italy.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform flight data analysis of significant events (not limited to mishap or exceedances), using 'Insight' software from APS Aerospace. Coordinate with the reporting entities (aircraft operator, customer support, P21/P145, flight operations etc), consult technical publications, counsel with subject matter experts in engineering departments, in order to conclude a description, and logical flow of the event.
  • Serve as part of the AIT (Accident Investigation Team): collect data and evidence, working safely at the accident site in coordination with the IIC (Investigator In Charge), in order to develop a factual investigation report of the accident.
  • With the assistance and guidance from CPE (Chief Project Engineering), CAE (Continued Airworthiness Engineering), COS (Continued Operations Safety) function, and respective engineering team, determine cause of the incidents, and draft investigation reports.
  • Assist the COS function for monitoring, analyzing and classifying ORs (Occurrence Reports). Perform safety and risk assessment as assigned.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aviation Safety.

Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in the aviation industry, with a basic understanding of flight operations.
  • The candidate must have a basic knowledge of aircraft systems such as transmission, flight control, engine, avionics etc. Exposure to Rotorcraft/VTOL systems are preferable.
