We are searching for a motivated leader and forward-looking candidate with a land use planning/permitting background who is interested in working with clients to successfully entitle their projects.

Because Tetra Tech works on a variety of projects, the successful candidate must be curious to learn about and work on projects in a wide range of market segments as we help our clients determine what it will take to successfully entitle their projects.

This position encourages the candidate to regularly work in the Longmont office for at least the first 3 months to form relationships with fellow employees and integrate into the team and Tetra Tech more fully and quickly. After the first 3 months, a flexible hybrid work schedule may be considered.

Your Role:

We are searching for a professional planner who is seeking to lead project entitlement efforts and coordinate with and manage teams of technical experts associated with entitling land development, mining, energy, waste handling, and other innovative industrial use projects. The position may require limited travel (estimated to be 5% of your time or less).

The position involves a range of duties that may include the following:


  • Engaging with a range of jurisdictions in the United States to understand their land use planning and permitting processes.
  • Preparing and organizing complete land use permitting entitlement applications for a broad range of land uses.
  • Coordinating with engineers and scientists to have technical reports prepared in support of the applications.
  • Project management including preparation of proposals, budgets, tracking and managing schedules, costs, and billing.
  • Review of technical reports from engineers and scientists to help make sure information is presented in a manner that can be understood by non-technical decision makers and the public.
  • Development of new projects with existing and new clients.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in urban planning (or in a related field if the candidate has land use planning/permitting work experience).
  • At least 8 years of land use permitting and 2 years of project management experience.
  • AICP preferred (or desire to obtain certification within 1 year of hiring).
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal/teamwork skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with ArcGIS is helpful, but not required.
  • Experience with NEPA would be beneficial, but is not required.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Target salary range: $100,000 to $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
