Disability Resources and Educational Services

The College of Applied Health Sciences is accepting applications for a Psychologist in Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES). This position will conduct psychological/psychoeducational assessments, provide supervision and training, and conduct individual and group therapy. This position will also include providing oversight on the implementation, coordination, and supervision of psychological assessment services at DRES.


The Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) provides various resources and services to Illinois students with disabilities. The mission of DRES is to ensure that qualified individuals with disabilities are afforded an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from the programs, services and activities of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign through the identification and enactment of reasonable modifications to institutional policies and procedures, the provision of effective auxiliary aids and services, the establishment of innovative educational services, and the pursuit of interdisciplinary disability research. Currently, over 4,000 University of Illinois students are registered with DRES.


DRES mental health staff are a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and school psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed counselors. DRES is also a training site for social work interns, psychology practicum students, predoctoral interns, and postdocs. DRES provides both individual and group therapy for DRES-registered students who have a documented disability. The disabilities which students are registered under range from medical and physical disabilities to mental health conditions.



Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate/Co-coordinate assessment services, administer assessments, provide feedback, and write comprehensive reports.
• Conduct training and supervise doctoral interns, practicum students, and undergraduate paraprofessional service providers.
• Provide individual counseling/psychotherapy for DRES registered students with disabilities.
• Provide group counseling/psychotherapy for DRES registered students.
• Participate in psychological emergency and trauma response.
• Participate in peer consultation and group supervision with other clinicians.
• Participate in various DRES services, education, and research activities as well as division, college, and campus committees.

Additional Physical Demands

Normal office environment. Some movement between buildings required.



Minimum Qualifications



Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or school psychology or related field. Experience working in a diverse setting as a generalist psychologist. Clinical psychologist license eligible in Illinois.



Preferred Qualifications



Experience conducting and supervising psychological assessments.
Licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois (Applicants seeking hours (i.e., postdoc hours) for clinical licensure will be considered).



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong clinical skills in therapy, assessment, and report writing are required.
• Must possess demonstrated interest in diversity (including disability) issues

Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/1/2024. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $82,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
