We are seeking a Manager, Operational Risk Management, to join our risk management team, to support the Finance and Actuarial Community. In this role, you will collaborate to build and maintain a productive and efficient risk management program in accordance with the company’s Operational Risk Management framework.

Two positions are available: one will be operational focused and one will also have some technology and systems focus.

The current Employee Work Arrangement (EWA)for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect:

Provides guidance and assistance to the Finance and Actuarial Community to manage operational risks in accordance with the company’s ORM framework. Viewed as a trusted advisor regarding risk issues by business partners. This includes ensuring that operational risks are properly identified, assessed, monitored, controlled, and reported. For example:


  • Promoting an exceptional risk management culture through engagement and relationship-building with senior management


  • Resolving challenging, sensitive, and/or urgent risk issues


  • Providing Operational Risk support and advice to business partners, including facilitating assessments of strategic initiatives and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented


  • Applying sound judgment in the evaluation of risks and effectively challenging control design


  • Advising business partners on the status, progress and implementation of action plans to address control gaps and tracking through to resolution


  • Building and maintaining collaborative partnerships across the functions as it relates to initiatives and the activities involved with running the functions


  • Using data analytics to identify and mitigate risk


What you’ll need:

The candidate should have 5+ years of combined experience involving the following:


  • Prior risk management, audit, or similar business risk and control experience


  • A bachelor’s degree is required


  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities


  • Experience working effectively both independently and part of a team


  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills


  • Ability to influence others to achieve desired results while maintaining operational excellence


  • Sound judgment in determining when to call out risk issues


  • Ability to effectively and confidently discuss risks and issues with management


  • Ability to partner effectively with management and other control partners


  • Knowledge of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) governance framework, the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) act, risk assessment, and control analysis


  • Business and financial literacy

  • Knowledge of audit methodologies


  • An advanced degree in business, finance, accounting, or related fields is a plus

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $115,800.00 to $172,300.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
