The Office of Continuing Education and Conferences (CEC) supports the University of South Carolina's mission of outreach and engagement by providing noncredit opportunities through:

CEC serves as an essential piece of the university's community outreach efforts. We offer and track educational opportunities for learners of all ages. Our workshops, boot camps, courses, and conferences offer personal enrichment, career-based credentialing and upskilling, networking opportunities and more. We serve everyone from individuals and university departments to non-profits and the business community.

In this role, you will lead a team of professionals who work with students across the "60-Year Curriculum" (and beyond!). Partner with university faculty and industry experts to host programs for high-achieving 6-12 grade students; promote our seven well-established certificate programs to working professionals and add new certificates to our portfolio; and help community members learn new skills or gain new hobbies through our Carolina Classroom personal interest workshops. Work with local and regional businesses, non-profits, and state agencies to create customized training for their team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree and 3 years of related program experience, or bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus, local, and state communities is necessary as are strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.


Job Duty:

Serve as a liaison with local, state, and national associations, organizations, and agencies involved in pre-university and continuing education training. Interpret training needs for specific organizations, recommending customized training programs and managing execution of these programs. Assist with bid processes, research, and marketing of new and existing programs. Maintain knowledge of existing and emerging pre-university and continuing education initiatives on campus, in the local community, across the state, and at peer and peer aspirant institutions.

Oversee onsite, hybrid, and virtual pre-university and continuing education programs. Plan, manage, evaluate and deliver existing and new pre-university, professional education and personal interest programs. Planning includes logistical coordination of programs, communicating with and securing instructors, securing appropriate meeting space, audio-visual, catering and parking. Create effective marketing plans and create/procure effective program support documents including class handouts and books. Effective delivery includes overseeing participant registration processing, maintaining communications with enrolled participants, developing course content, and ensuring effective program delivery. Utilize virtual delivery methods including Blackboard and program-specific modules.
