Responsible for the supervision and operations of the pool and pool area during operating hours. The lifeguard will ensure the safety of patrons in and around the pool area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Opens facility and greets patrons upon their arrival, to include notifying the on-duty Facility Manager to unlock the pool.
Enforces facility rules and regulations regarding the safe and proper use of the pool, deck and diving boards. Oversees activities in and around the pool at all times.
Serves as a first responder in the event of an emergency.
Completes facility participation reports.
Secures the facility upon closing, to include notifying the on-duty Facility Manager to lock the pool.
Administers facility evaluations.
Attends and participates in departmental employee training programs.
Advocates for awareness, understanding and the diversity and inclusion of all people in University Recreation facilities, programs and communications while providing a commitment to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Advocates for the educational and cultural benefits of providing diversity and inclusion in University Recreation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Lifeguard/First Aid certification
Current CPR/AED certification
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at University of Richmond
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Some High School
Previous experience lifeguarding is preferred
WORK HOURS:
Part-time, temporary, non-exempt position
Scheduled as needed for shifts Monday-Sunday 6:00 a.m. through Midnight, daytime, evening and weekends
This position works less than 1,000 hours per year
