Food Service Worker


Salary: $16.90/hourClassification: Part-TimeReports to: Food Service Supervisor

Olympic College is recruiting three part-time hourly Food Service Workers. This position will perform a variety of duties in the preparation and serving of food and in main­taining sanitary conditions of a food service operation. Will typically work only when classes are in session.

Essential Functions



  • Serve food in cafeteria line.

  • Open cans, apportion contents, wash and prepare vegetables for cooking.

  • Make and serve beverages and soda fountain items.

  • Assemble salads, sandwiches and desserts.

  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and equipment; may operate ware and utensil washing machines.

  • Clean tables and chairs, empty ashtrays, fill salt and pepper shakers, salad dressing and napkin containers.

  • May relieve or assist other employees in higher level food preparation tasks to meet emergency or on-the-job training situations.

  • May operate kitchen equipment.

  • May direct work of student trainees and part-time help.

  • May operate washers and driers and sort and fold laundry for food service operation.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a food handler's permit.

Terms of Employment
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $16.28. They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
Deferred Compensation Program (DRS) retirement savings plan; TIAA supplemental retirement savings plan, sick leave, paid holidays, Aflac, space available tuition waiver, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), fitness center, reduced rate, and priority consideration on-site childcare on a space available.

Conditions of Employment

Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
