Job Summary

As a Data Architect, you will lead the strategic design and implementation of data architecture across the organization, focusing on building robust data models in star schema to support business intelligence. This pivotal role involves governing data flows and structures while ensuring high standards of data quality and accessibility. You will collaborate with key stakeholders, business intelligence teams, and IT leaders to understand and map out the overarching data relationships that drive business success. Your expertise in data governance will ensure that data practices align with regulatory standards and business objectives. To thrive in this role, you should have a deep understanding of data architecture principles and be adept in tools and methodologies that foster data integrity and usability. Your commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in data strategy will help us maintain a competitive edge by leveraging the latest advancements in technology and data management.

In this role, career progression is structured into three steps (I, II, Senior). Step I is the entry level, ideal of individuals who meet the minimum requirements of this position, offering a chance to build on foundational skills and knowledge. Step II is for individuals that have at least three years of experience in this role and have enhanced their skills through solving complex problems. The Senior step is for those with over six years of experience that have exceptional proficiency and the ability to independently handle complex projects. These steps will provide a road map for professional growth and increased responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architect and manage a metadata repository to document data flow and lineage, enhancing organizational transparency and self-service capabilities in data discovery.
2. Continuously evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and methodologies to keep the data architecture modern and aligned with business goals.
3. Create and maintain extensive documentation on data architectures, models, and pipelines to ensure consistency and clarity in data handling and usage.
4. Design and oversee the implementation of enterprise data architectures, ensuring robust, scalable data models that support our data warehousing needs.
5. Develop and maintain advanced data models in star schema to facilitate easy data analysis and reporting. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to ensure these models align with business needs and operational requirements.
6. Develop comprehensive documentation for data models, data pipelines, database schemas, and data quality checks.
7. Ensure optimal configuration and performance of all data platforms, enhancing data efficiency and accessibility.
8. Manage data privacy, security, compliance while enforcing data classification and protection requirements.
9. Provide leadership and training to teams on leveraging enterprise data resources effectively, promoting a culture of data quality and security.
10. Strategically design and develop data pipelines that guarantee the timely delivery of high-quality data across various subject areas.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. 2+ years of Databricks, including Spark SQL experience strongly preferred.
2. 4+ years of SQL experience.
3. 5+ years in data management roles, including hands-on experience in data architecture, data modeling techniques, particularly star schema.
4. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks.
5. Capability to manage projects, including leading data architecture projects from conception through implementation.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to align data architecture with business goals.
7. Master's Degree, 8 years relevant experience, or a combination of college education and relevant experience
8. Other preferred qualifications: Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, GIT repos, Python, Cl/CD pipelines, Power Bl, RedGate toolbelt.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex data-related issues and optimize data usability and efficiency.

2. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
3. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis

5. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs on an occasional basis.
6. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
7. Will use telephone, computer system, email, and other electronic devices on a frequent basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
